Your Privacy Matters

Layered: Skincare Synced is built with privacy at its core. Your skincare routine is personal — your data should stay that way.

What Stays on Your Device

Everything personal. Your routines, completion history, streaks, notes, and settings are stored only on your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. We do not have a server that holds this data.

  • All routine and history data is local to your device
  • Sync between iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch uses Apple's WatchConnectivity and iCloud frameworks — data travels directly between your own devices
  • No accounts, no sign-ups, no cloud user database

Anonymous Analytics

To understand how Layered is used and improve it, we use PostHog, a product analytics service. The data collected is anonymous and cannot identify you personally.

What is collected:

  • Anonymous device ID — a randomly generated UUID created on first launch. It is shared between your iPhone and Apple Watch but is not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account.
  • App usage events — which screens you open and which buttons you tap (e.g. “added a routine”, “started a timer”, “completed onboarding”), and when.
  • Device context — app version, build number, iOS/iPadOS/watchOS version, device model, and locale.

What is not collected:

  • No name, email, phone number, or Apple ID
  • No precise location or IP-based geolocation we act on
  • No content of your routines, step names, or notes — text you type is never transmitted
  • No cross-app or cross-website tracking — we do not use this data for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes
  • No screen recording or session replay

Analytics data is processed by PostHog Inc. on our behalf. PostHog's privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.

If you would like your anonymous analytics history removed, contact us at the email below and provide the date and approximate time of an app session — we can identify and delete the associated anonymous ID's data.

Accessibility Data

Layered Skincare reads system accessibility settings (Dynamic Type size, Reduce Motion, VoiceOver state, Dark Mode) on-device to render the right experience. None of this is transmitted off-device.

In-App Purchases

Pro upgrade purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or purchase history beyond what Apple provides to all developers (anonymous aggregate sales data).

Third-Party Services

  • Apple App Store — for processing in-app purchases (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
  • PostHog — for anonymous product analytics (see section above)

Data Deletion

  • Delete the app — removing Layered from your device deletes all associated local data
  • Delete routines — use the app to delete individual routines at any time
  • Anonymous analytics — email us with the date and approximate time of a session and we'll remove the associated anonymous ID's data

Children's Privacy

Layered does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not require account creation or collect personal information from any users, regardless of age. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
